Children's Residential Support Worker
Staffpower Group Healthcare are currently looking for multiple dedicated staff to work for our client based in the northeast. They are looking for permanent staff to work alongside their friendly residential childcare team working with children (5 years +).
Ideally, we are looking for candidates with level 3 NVQ with children.
We will consider people who may not have experience in residential childcare if you have a passion for working with children and want to make a difference in children’s lives.
Our client has a reputable background and have been established since 2006. They are Ofsted rated. And we have multiple homes with this client.
Our client have a very visible senior management team and extensive staff support structures in keeping with a formal and defined therapeutic model including group and clinical supervision for all staff. In house training and updated cpd will be included.
Essential Requirements
- To work with and maintain a high level of supervision with all children.
- To communicate with other relevant bodies and agencies i.e. education establishments, social workers etc on a regular basis
- To be aware of and to understand the needs of children with trauma.
- To understand the importance of maintaining a therapeutic and caring ethos
- Residential care experience
- Understanding of child development, parenting, the needs of children and a commitment to supporting children is essential.
Qualifications
- QCF Level 3 Children and Young People / Workforce Diploma.
Daily role and responsibilities.
- To provide day to day care for the children in our care
- To keep children safe and be committed to safeguarding.
- To act as a parental figure and positive adult role model to help demonstrate healthy adult functioning.
- To be involved in all aspects of daily care and support for the children.
- To bring ideas and partake in activities, crafts, clubs, sports, hobbies and encourage the children to try new things.
- To be involved in the domestic routines associated with running a busy home – laundry, food preparation, shopping etc.
- To transport children to school, activities, health appointments and family contact.
- To be included on a work rota that provides staff cover on a shift basis
- Record keeping and administration as required.
- To be constantly vigilant on health and safety matters.
- Ensuring that the setting is kept clean, tidy and organised to provide a warm and homely environment.
- Attendance at staff meetings, and any other meeting as required.
- To attend training as arranged as part of your individual development plan.
- To complete mandatory training and regulatory training as required by and provided by the organisation.
- Any other duties delegated by the Registered Manager/Deputy Manager and Senior staff.
Salary and holiday
£23000 – £24000 per annum
5.6 weeks holiday a year.
